Performance Coach, Interview Post, Transformational Coach,Sisterhood, Empathy.

Hello, Everyone!

Lately, a lot of young individuals who are just embarking on their career journey are beginning to get scared and impatient as to when exactly they will achieve their goals. I was blessed to have met Adebola Idowu through Instagram and eventually our relationship progressed further.

She is a Blogger, Youtuber, Business Developer/Manager, Finance Professional, Writer, an Entrepreneur, Coach, Speaker, Mentor to name a few.

Whenever I think of her, I can’t help but feel inspired and motivated. She is too Knowledgeable, Intelligent and Selfless. This then heightened my respect and adoration for her thus contributing to my decision of seeking her permission to be interviewed.

Hopefully, we all can benefit from this.

  • A brief introduction about you (Background and Education)

My name is Adebola Idowu. A Muslim, wife, and mother to four amazing boys.

I am a Finance Professional (ACCA) with a degree in Accounting and Diploma in Marketing.

Rounding up my Masters with London School of Business and Finance (dissertation stage).

I hold a certificate in Coaching Foundation and I am a US licensed NLP Practitioner. (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

I work with Nigerian Bottling Company as the Head of Business Performance Management system (A strategy role in charge of translating the organization’s strategic priorities into executional goals (KPIs) and tracking these to ensure the company delivers on all its growth commitments.

I train, coach, mentor and motivate individuals to reach for excellence and improve their productivity, basically ensuring that the life/career/business goals they have set for themselves are achieved by providing them with practical guidance on how to do this.

  • When and why did you make the decision to be a transformational coach?

Coaching is something I have been doing from way back, from coaching my younger ones to coaching colleagues and associates at work. Even though I was doing it at this time in an unstructured way.

I believe there is always more we can do. There is this Bruce Lee quote that I love so much –

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.

I realized I have a unique gift of speaking and inspiring people to do more, so in 2015, I decided to reach out to people outside my space. It’s been a phenomenal experience, I keep learning and growing every day.

  • In effectively managing it with your 9-5 job, how has it been?

Not smooth but I am a pretty organized person. There are things to be done, I do it – whether or not it is convenient.

  • What does it take to be a performance excellence and coach?

An excellent and trained mind. Passion to help other people grow. Continuous learning.

  • What advice will you give to younger women just embarking on their career journey?

Don’t be afraid to dream big. The world is your space, fill it. If you are in finance, dream of being the CFO or even the General Manager

In Manufacturing, aim for the director role, whatever your role, aim for the apex position. You deserve it, if only you know.

  • As a Muslim, how do you juggle between Islam and your job?

😊 I don’t juggle. It’s my connection with Allah first. Years back, I probably would have struggled with this question, but now I am as clear as day. Nothing competes with my relationship with God, I can’t sacrifice that peace of mind. It is everything.

No matter how busy I am, when it is time for Solat, I excuse myself.

I have to be in the core of a meeting not to leave, and immediately after the meeting, I will go read my Solat. I didn’t get here in a day, it’s Allah’s mercy.

  • You recently launched a book called Goal Digger?

Goal Digger is a productivity tool. It is a goal book to write down your goals and track your achievements. It supports living consciously with clarity, concise direction and purpose.

This is not just a book, it is intentional living. It is a tool that brings your goals within your reach. We believe writing down your goals and acting towards it on a daily basis will make accomplishment possible.

The Goal Digger book comes with a CD which explains how to derive great benefit from the book. It comes also with a PIN which gives free access to an online dashboard.

The dashboard acts as your accountability partner, reminding you weekly on all open tasks that need to be closed. It also measures and rates your monthly productivity based on accomplished tasks.

  • Your source of extra motivation.

The knowledge that I am not promised tomorrow, so I have to make today count, connecting strongly with God, Family, People and writing a story that will transcend generations.

  • 3 top tips that help in building a stable home as a full-time employee, Coach, wife, and mother.

Determination to win all ways

  • Please share something funny about you that contradicts with your outlook.

😊 I don’t even know how I look to people, I just hope I don’t look too serious…. 😊 cos I am actually not.
