Networking is a very critical tool for your personal development and business growth.
I have always known that networking is powerful in many different ways but I never paid much attention to it until I attended the Blogger Point (TBP) Brunch; first bloggers hub/Agency in Nigeria.
This is actually the second blogger brunch organized by the Blogger Point (TBP) agency as I wasn’t chanced to grace the first. However, I am extremely glad I got to attend the second event that took place on 20th August 2017 at BarBar Lagos.
Some lessons I garnered about small business networking from the just concluded Blogger Point (TBP) Brunch includes;
1. Mutual Support:
Have you ever heard of the phrase “Iron sharpeneth iron”?
One of the key things you will benefit from attending small business networking events is Mutual Support. You will meet with people who have similar passion, similar challenges, similar goals, similar victories etc.
As you share your journey with each other, you will be so amazed at the lessons you learn from each other. You will be able to encourage someone who is currently struggling with a phase that you have already scaled through and you, in turn, will receive encouragements and tips to push you through your own struggles from the one who has successfully scaled through as well.
Nothing can be more fulfilling as giving encouragement and receiving same.
2. Widened perspective:
Being in a room filled with people of like mind can be so rewarding and stimulating. You will have the opportunity to bounce ideas off others and also help them to shape theirs.
As you share ideas, you will be able to see through other people’s eye and this alone can be life-saving. You will receive constructive criticism that can triple both your business and self-growth.
3. Increased Visibility:
One of the fastest ways to get noticed in an industry especially as a startup is by attending networking events. Being in regular attendance of your industry events projects your brand as a reputable one even if you literarily jumped out of nowhere.
It affords you the privilege of meeting with industry influencers and being spotted with such also increases your reputation. Imagine an industry influencer making mention of you on social media while displaying a photo of both of you.
What do you think will happen to your brand?
4. Strategic Collaborations:
As you network and share ideas, you should be on the lookout for partners you can work with.
It might be businesses that your products and services can complement theirs. You might also decide to cross-market products, run a giveaway, influence for each other or trade some barter.
Attending networking events affords you the opportunity to connect with individuals and brands. Remember that business is driven basically by referrals and connections. Hence, you need to be intentional about how you project yourself and your business.
Finally, if you make the right impression on the people you connect with, both you and your business become registered in their mind and this makes it easy for them to buy from you and also refer their connections to patronize you.

Hopefully, you have derived some benefits that will boost the zeal to acknowledge any upcoming events which will be of importance to your personal and brand progress. Thank you.
