Do you know that a great percentage of people who make it to the top of their class are not the smartest people? They simply have some tricks which they employ that others do not know of.
If you have been romancing the idea of graduating at the top of your class then you are in luck because you are about to get the smartest tricks to set you on that track.
1. Make a Decision:
You must make a decision to top your class. Nothing is ever going to happen if your mind is not made up. You must want it VERY badly in order to have the drive to stay on course.
How badly do you want it?
2. Get a Study Buddy:
Get someone who can help you to remain on track. Someone who has a similar goal. Someone who will inspire, challenge and motivate you.
3. Study ahead:
Read ahead in the syllabus. Try and stay at least one chapter ahead of the lectures. Don’t bother about the difficult parts.
Just read the material but make sure you note those parts that are difficult or that you don’t understand.
4. Disturb your Lecturers:
This is not to say that you should be troublesome but hey, these guys are paid to be there for you so don’t spare them when you are not clear on something.
Share your perspectives with them and offer to help them with research. This will show them that you have genuine interest and they in return will do all in their power to see you succeed.
It doesn’t matter where you are, whether in the class or having personal time, get minimal with anything that is likely going to be a distraction.
Learn to discipline yourself about internet usage, social media, games, and friends who are likely to be a distraction.
6. Stay Healthy:
Get lots of sleep. AduIts have been recommended at least 8 hours of sleep, why? Sleep is very important for the human body. It helps refresh the mind and body.
Studying very late into the night and depriving oneself of sleep won’t help much. Ensure you get adequate sleep to get the energy to do more.
Eat right for proper brain functioning. Avoid junk foods and eat more fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. Drink plenty of water; 8 glasses a day. It’s good for the brain as well as the rest of the body.
7. Don’t Miss Classes, Assignments and Projects:
Attending your classes is crucial for you to make it to the top of the class. This will help you to be familiar with content and mode of delivery of the lecturers.
The illustrations used in class also helps a great deal in understanding concepts. Sometimes it may not be possible to attend all classes; if this happens, ensure to do a follow up on what others did when you were away.
Some lecturers award points for attendance so missing a class would mean being behind those who attended. You can approach such lecturers and explain why you will not be disposed to attend the class. Do your assignments and projects by yourself and on time for the best results.
Avoid last minute rush and copying, this will help you understand better and stand a chance to seek clarification if you have issues. You will also be able to memorize the solution by working it out yourself remember assignment questions sometimes re-appear in exams.
8. Teach Other students:
Form study groups or find another student who needs help with understanding and helps them learn other concepts you have understood.
Teaching others helps to test your knowledge, mastery, and also retaining of a concept. Don’t feel bad if you get stuck in explaining something, it simply shows that you need to do your homework better.
Even though there is no SURE way of guaranteeing that you will graduate tops in your class.
This feat does not come to lazy hands. It requires conscious efforts, having the right attitude and being ready to be the best.
